I turn to you binocular aficionados for some expert advice. What would you
suggest for compact binoculars to be used in hiking and backpacking?
These bins are for our son, who is an avid backpacker and currently living
in Switzerland. He has commented that he would love to be able to look at
distant peaks and so on when up in the mountains hiking. He isn't a birder
- but when you're hiking you never know what you're going to want to home in
on, and he's been with his birding parents enough to know how handy it is to
have binoculars available when, let's face it, you're just about anywhere.
And, strong though our son is, he would want a lightweight and compact set
of binoculars for extended hiking and backpacking.
