I had my first-of-season BARROW'S GOLDENEYES at Browns Point this afternoon.
Two pairs gave me a nice close-up fly-by view as they rounded the lighthouse
into Commencement Bay. Other noteworthy birds were a single RHINOCEROS
AUKLET, BONAPARTE'S GULL and WESTERN GREBE.
I also stopped at NE5000 on Marine View Drive, the viewpoint for last years
Black-tailed Gull. The parks department has turned it into a nice asphalt
parking area, with logs, handicap access and a trail down to the beach. Here
I saw another 17 BARROW'S GOLDENEYES and 2 RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS. Most of
the logs have been removed, but there are still a lot of gulls out there
worthwhile checking, however I did not bring my scope.

Good Birding!
