Hello All,

Just wanted to send a quick note about my experience birding in
Whatcom/Skagit Counties this weekend:

While birding solo, I happened upon a group of bird watchers on the side of
the road. I ensured that I didn't disturb the flock that they were watching
and joined them to see if they had seen anything noteworthy. One gentleman
was kind enough to answer my inquiries and exchange some pleasantries.
However, not a single other person acknowledged my presence whatsoever.
They were a small group that chatted amongst themselves and completely
ignored my attempt to bird alongside them for a short period. No response
to my "hello" or "have a good day" as I departed. It was mildly put, rude.

>From fellow nature lovers, I expected more. Fortunately, I have also run
into wonderful birders that took the time to point me in the right direction
or share a good find. What a difference that makes to somebody new to the
area! Let it be a reminder to all of us to be friendly in the field and
share our enjoyment of birds with others.
