Evidently, you haven't seen them roving by the hundreds at the end of summer
over farm fields in eastern Washington. I can't imagine how they survived
before farming.

I'm convinced that the primary habitat of Brewer's Blackbirds is the parking
lot. I can't imagine how they survived before "civilization" arrived here.

Yeah, over the years, although not very recently(?), there have been
Brewer's Blackbirds underfoot in my local mall here in Bellingham (Sehome
Village Mall). I noticed small amounts of "bird food" left out in the
parking areas, so that may have helped lure them. But they were walking
around underfoot at the entrance of the grocery store. That may be an
adaptation(?) to walking around large hoofed animals out on the prairies to
catch insects flushed by the bison, etc.

Dear Tweets;

I have noticed that there is a small flock of 12 to 15 Brewers
Blackbirds feeding in the Wal-Mart parking lot yesteday.
Someone dropped some seed in the lot that they were enjoying.
There was only 1 male in the group.

It was odd to me as I have not noticed any such birds in this lot
previously.
