Subject: [Tweeters] Possible Glaucous Gull in Vancouver WA

I saw what appeared to be a Glaucous gull on a light pole as I drove
down I5 southbound to Portland today. It was around the 78th St.
exit. The bird was just approaching the pole when I first saw it. It
had very translucent tips on its primaries and was very very light--
looked to be almost completely white. It was about the same size as a
Glaucous-winged gull and driving at 60 mph I couldn't say for sure
that it wasn't. I do know that these gulls tend to take up
territories on these poles and hang out in an area for quite a while,
so it's possible someone else may see the same bird in that area near
Hazel Dell.

Anyway, it's not a scrub jay. I love the corvids, but do miss the
Steller's jays which are not as usual in the Vancouver area like they
are up in the Puget Sound.
