Hi, Tweeters,

Twice this week I have seen what I thought was a Swainson's Thrush in the
greenery about 6 feet from my window. Today, during its prolonged sit, I was
able to observe it more closely and consult the field guide. White eye ring,
thin, pointed beak, a small white patch under chin. Sibley's says it's most
likely the Hermit Thrush, "the only spotted thrush likely to be encountered in
North America November-March."

Well, I'll tell you, a visit from the official state bird of my native Vermont
really made my day.
