Hello fellow tweeters;

RE: Chris noted in a previous digest about seeing an unidentified duck
and asked for help identifying it. My belief is that this waterfowl you
took a photo of is the same hybrid domestic Mallard breed called a
"Swedish Duck" that I have seen on the logs along the Montlake Fill
northern border adjacent to the Center for Urban Horticulture's nature
trail.

FYI: Many domestic hybrid breeds are released by their owners into the
wild waterfowl populations.

The species originate from China and the United Kingdom where they are
farm raised for their meat. Other such hybrids include Cayuga, Indian
Runners, and Roens. More information can be garnered by reading about
them at domestic-waterfowl dot co dot uk.

Everyone have a great week birding,

"Watch the birdie."
