We had a chilly stiff wind from the north this morning (11-20-10) on
the Edmonds public pier. Over an hour or so there must have been
40-50 COMMON MURREs flying south in groups of mostly twos and fours.
At least six ANCIENT MURRELETs were sen. Both DUNLINs and
SANDERLINGs were about as were PIGEON GUILLEMOTs, RHINOCEROS AUKLETs,
and a probable CASSIN'S AUKLET. I saw the smallish auklet from a
rear view but when it turned its head, just before diving and not
reappearing, the head was rounded and bill was quite small. Two
COMMON LOONs flew north. GREAT SCAUPs were around and there are
still around 200 HEERMANN'S GULLs on the marina breakwater. One
adult BALD EAGLE flew over and all three CORMORANTS were seen.
