Westport Seabirds has scheduled a winter pelagic trip on Jan. 15th with a possible backup day on the 16th. It can be iffy sea-wise with the weather patterns, but we've also had some of our most rare encounters of seabirds. We've seen the following birds during past January trips and one early February trip:
Jan. 16, 1994, 3 Laysan Albatross
Feb. 2, 1997, 12-13 Laysan Albatross, 4 MOTTLED PETRELS, 3 PARAKEET AUKLETS
Jan. 22, 2000, 6 Laysan Albatross, 1 SHY ALBATROSS
Jan. 27, 2001, 7 Laysan Albatross, 1 SHORT-TAILED ALBATROSS

Other winter pelagics that were seen on these trips include, Short-tailed Shearwaters, Black-footed Albatross, Black-legged Kittiwakes, Ancient Murrelets, Cassin's Auklets and a possible Horned Puffin.
We've already have had great interest in this trip and reservations are going fast. So, if you want a great winter adventure sign up soon at our website, www.westportseabirds.com
