Hello Tweeters,
I joint Phil Kelly at a CO Leader to the Olympus Peninsula,it was a
Black -Hills Audubon Trip,
Despite the high winds and a super high tide and so cold,but we had all fun
seeing so many nice birds We birdied 10 hours and visiting many places,There
was 3 stops where we had no birds at all do to the big swells and high
wind,most other places had high counts on most species.Fort Warden ,Point
Wilson and Salsbury Point park ( we had 2 Horned Grebes)
Oak Bay who I spotted the 2 Black Oystercatcher across on East Beach County
Park,We finished already,so we got in the car driving
to seeing the Black Ostercatcher better.This birds was still on the rocky
beaches but to high water we could not getting on the island where there fed
on the point.Our longer looks got interrupted to a Bald Eagle flew over and
scared all the many birds up.The Oystercatcher few on to the Jetty.Patrick
and I always birdied this whole area in the winter months,there I
photographed my first Oystercatcher in 1998 than there where many to
seeing,but for some reason ( finding not to much food supply) and going some
place out.Or last sighting in this area where in December 2003 also only 2
birds.In earlier season we had from 8 to 10 birds,If any of you birders
have any input on this species,in this particular area Oak Bay ore the East
Beach county park where we had them most on the jetty roosted PLEASE I like
