Hi Tweeters:
It's 4pm, and we have about 3" of snow on the ground, and it's still
snowing. And blowing. Temp 33 deg.
The winter birds are about. Yesterday, on our monthly Kent Ponds census,
one of the teams saw two Hermit Thrushes and one Red-breasted Sapsucker.
These are quite uncommon at Kent Ponds. It was Dennis P who told us last
year on Tweeters that the RB Sapsuckers come down in elevation to the
lowlands when the sap freezes in their trees in the foothills in winter.
Today I had a Hermit Thrush in the yard, only my third ever at the house.
My friend Cathea is getting down the Christmas lights to put around her
hummer feeders to keep them from freezing.
Yours, Carol Schulz
