What a party at the feeder! There are 30 or so birds, mostly chickadees.
As they land on the cedar tree they dislodge a puff of snow which tinkles
down all sparkly in the sun. Had a Mountain chickadee in the crowd this
morning. There was a dead song sparrow near my compost that was scavenged.
The tracks around it in the snow implicate a Douglas squirrel. Some of
feathers I examined were clearly broken instead of plucked also indicating a
mammal.
I am looking for a photo of a caddisfly larva case made of pebbles. You may
have seen these in the local rivers. Its for my online field guide which is
at: http://share3.esd105.wednet.edu/rsandelin/Fieldguide/Fieldguide.htm
