I put seed and fresh water outside everyday this time of year and it is greatly appreciated. So to no surprise, I had my first Varied Thrush this season. But what caught my attention was how "quiet" it got around 2 pm. A half dozen crows were sitting quietly in the fir trees when something was agressively attacking them. It was a Coopers Hawk. (black cap and all, Carol)
The Coop just didn't want the Crows around at all and made all of them fly away. Now he sits in the fir tree waiting for a meal. That means I leave the window so I don't have to view what will happen next. The circle of life...everyone needs a holiday meal.
