hi group ... perhaps most birders aren't overusing their ipods, but I
know some folks are ... and, like always, it only takes a few to ruin
it for the majority ... this past fall I traveled to a wedding on the
east coast and while researching various refuges to visit --- I found
quite a few refuges which BANNED electronic bird calls ... from the
east coast I went to Arizona and visited two state parks ... in the
rules and regulations of one of those state parks was stated that
electronic calls were NOT to be heard outside the car ... I tour
Ridgefield quite a bit and have run into photographers whose ipods
could be heard from 10 car lengths away while all around them are
very agitated birds ... then in chatting with these folks I find them
oblivious to the birds, but just so excited they are getting
pictures, and they've been playing this call "for half an hour
already !!!" ... but the better picture just might be coming ...
