Hey tweets, thanks to Jeffrey Bryant, I saw only my second WESTERN
SCRUB-JAY at the Fill yesterday. Jeffrey found it in the Wedding Rock
grove and ran halfway around the Loop Trail to find me and hustle me
back to relocate the bird. Along the way, he kept muttering, "I'm so
late for work." When we got to the Wedding Rock, of course the bird
was gone. But Jeffrey stayed until the bird came back - a beautiful
creature.

To repay him for his great kindness, I mentioned the Acorn Woodpecker
entertaining birders at Magnuson. "I have to drive in that direction,"
Jeffrey said, thoughtfully, and with a soft sonic boom was gone. I
hope he found the woodpecker - the universe isn't always in balance,
as we who are suffering one plumbing adventure after another at home
this week know so well, but surely the powers that be will see how
just it is to present that woodpecker to a kind-hearted guy, who gave
this Fill aficionado such a wonderful moment.

Also present at the Fill: a Red-breasted Nuthatch (rare for us), a
Western Meadowlark, Golden-crowned Kinglets, a Virginia Rail, and
hordes of Yellow-rumped Warblers too numerous to count. - Connie,
