This morning, Dan Harville and I covered the beach route for the
Discovery Park bird census. The tide was out, and there were 90
HEERMANN'S GULLS gathered on the sand in front of the lighthouse. Two
PARASITIC JAEGERS were chasing a few more Heermann's Gulls over the
water. Other than the mixed bunch of MEW, CALIFORNIA, GLAUCOUS-WINGED,
AND HEERMANN'S GULLS and the jaegers, there were hardly any seabirds
present, just 20 Double-crested Cormorants, 7 Surf Scoters, and a lone
Rhinoceros Auklet.
