With all the excitememt over Acorn Woodpeckers showing up around the Seattle
area I thought it would be a good time to check out Fort Simcoe to see if
any had dispersed to that location.

Upon arrival I birded down the gravel road that runs east from the parking
lot, just North of the restrooms and sure enough about 500 feet from the lot
I found a lone ACORN WOODPECKER perched at the top of a Gary Oak. I flagged
the tree with flagging tape, but he could be anywhere in the park. I also
had at least 2
WESTERN SCRUBJAYS and as expected a half dozen or so LEWIS' WOODPECKERS.

The only other rare find was a very healthy looking black bear that was
feeding in the apple tree at the caretakers house.
