Hey Tweets!

Birding made for some nice bookends on my day today - got out to Discovery Park in the morning, and found 5 Heermann's Gulls at the lighthouse, mixed in with a dozen or so California Gulls, 2 Caspian Terns, and two..umm... Thayer's Gulls? That's my guess, as these guys had bright bubblegum pink legs next to the yellow of the California Gulls (I have to remember to always get out to the lighthouse in the morning! Backlit birds just aren't the same!). Their heads were tucked under their wings most of the time, so I didn't have a lot else to work with. One Sanderling joined them on the beach for a while as well.

At the end of the day, I swung by the little pond off of 212th Avenue in Kent, and found an American Kestrel hard at work, but not much else in the pond itself. Stopping by the Boeing ponds, it was great to see so many American Wigeons back, along with some Gadwall, Mallards, and 5 Ring-Necked Ducks. Almost didn't see the Merlin (!) perched in a snag overlooking the ponds.

Happy Birding!
