At the Bethel Ridge Burn off Hwy 12 near Rimrock Lake, Black-backed
Woodpeckers were easily seen on Thursday at about 11 AM-1PM. As soon as I
parked the car I heard the kyik call and saw two birds flying tree to tree.
Following one of them I got a better look and managed to take some low angle
photos. The yellow cap idenitified this bird as a male. Later on I saw
several more of the same species. Other birds present included Common Raven
and Steller's Jay. Thanks to Gnat Whitman for good directions.
