Hello All,
On this overcast Saturday MerryLynn and I decided to bird several areas we seldom vistit. So we started off by stopping briefly at the WWRdelta, Blood Ponds and then north to Sprague Lake and Cow Lake in Adams County. I was looking for species #200 on my Adams County life list. Below is the list of birds of note we located.

WWRdelta
Franklins Gull.........2 sub-adults
Western Gull..........1 first fall bird
Eared Grebe..........3 birds-FOY, species # 249
Western Grebe......300+ off delta, very large number for area!

Blood Ponds

Pectoral Sandpipers...11 birds
RUFF.............................1 sub-adult bird. same individual first located at Two Rivers HMU on 2 Oct.

Hatton R.S., Adams Co.

Long-billed Dowitcher.....17 birds
Pectoral Sandpiper..........3 birds
Bairds Sandpiper.............1bird
Red-breasted Nuthatch....2 birds
Golden-crowned Kinglet...6 birds

Sprague Lake, Lincoln Co.

Bewicks Wren......1 ad. at first east shore boat launch
Barrows Goldeneye..1 ad. female
Western Grebe..........19 birds

Sprague Lake, Adams Co. end

Ruddy Duck..............1800+
Wood Duck................1 pair
Common Goldeneye..1 ad. male
Bonapartes Gull..........2 birds
Eared Grebe...............2 birds
Yellow Headed Blackbirds..3 ad. females
Am.White Pelican........3 ad. birds

Cow Lake, Adams Co.

Prairie Falcon........1 ad. 3 miles north.
Black-bellied Plover..9 birds, Species #200 for me in Adams County! Large number for this county.
Bairds Sandpiper.....2 birds
Dunlin.........................1 ad.bird
Western Sandpiper..15 birds
Long-billed Dowitchers..52 birds
Peregrine Falcon.......1 first fall bird, Species #201 for me in Adams Co..
COMMON TEAL........1 ad. male, In a flock of 50+ Am. Green-winged Teal
Northern Shrike...........1 ad., watched as it hovered, dropped and caught a large blue dragonfly which it perched with on a fence post and ripped apart as it devoured it. I have never seen this shrike species take a dragonfly as a prey item.

Washtucna, Adams Co.

Fox Sparrow.............2 ad. sooty race
Hermit Thrush...........1ad.
Eurasian-collard Dove...20 birds
