Hello all, just had a chance to read emails:
We would like to thank all those who commented on our sighting - here is what we have learned and done:
#1 There was a sighting of a white crane over Tricities WA one year ago - also with sandhills but seemed smaller.
#2 This was very possibly a leucistic Sandhill Crane - but the really white ones like this are extremely rare also. There was no tan or brown anywhere on the bird that we could see. It was "snow goose" white with black primaries.
#3 No we are not adding Whooping Crane to any of our lists!
#4 We have contacted the Whooping Crane Foundation as well as the International Crane Foundation - to let them know of our sighting - have not heard back as yet.
#5 We HOPE that this bird is found south of us and positively identified - that will end all speculation!
M&M
