Tim & Tweeters:



I have been banding Northern Saw-whet Owls since the beginning of the month
at my two Bainbridge Island locations. To date, I am at 37, a very high
number for me, especially as the peak of migration historically is next
week. I took a group out this morning and found 5 NSWO in two hours, one of
which responded to a Barn Owl call. We also heard a Barn Owl, saw a Barred
Owl, and heard a young female Barred Owl practice calling.

October is a prime time to owl here, especially on calm clear nights with a
rising barometer.

Hey Tweets,

I was out last night around Renton Park, hooting it up to see if I could get
a response from a Great Horned Owl - no luck there, but I got a brief but
distinctive response from a Northern Saw-whet Owl! I know it's not the time
of year for active calling for most species, but was wondering what kind of
luck people in Tweeterland have with owling in the fall.
