Hi Tweets,

Yesterday (10/19) Barbara and I dodged in and out of heavy fog in Kitsap and
Jefferson Counties, until we reached Mystery Bay State Park on Marrowstone
Island. We tried but failed to locate the Northern Mockingbird that had been
reported there recently, but netted a SHARP-SHINNED HAWK plus assorted
waterfowl and passerines. Just north of the park a PEREGRINE FALCON flushed
up a flock of two dozen Rock Pigeon.

At Fort Flagler State Park our best bird was a YELLOW-BILLED LOON well off
the north shore of the campground area. At Point No Point the main show was
provided by several Orcas that surfaced and dived repeatedly in brilliant
sunlight. There were also large numbers of BONAPARTE'S GULLS fishing the
tidal rips and a PARASITIC JAEGER showed up twice to stir them up. In the
marsh there we saw our first NORTHERN SHRIKE of the season.

Good birding,
