Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday October 21. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls

On October 14 a probable CRESTED AUKLET was photographed at Port Orford. It
could not be relocated. A probable KING EIDER was seen October 16 passing
Boiler Bay. Two SCRUB-JAYS and a BLUE JAY are now being seen in Union.

Large flocks of ROBINS are now gathering in Central Oregon. Large numbers of
RED-BREASTED NUTHATCHES are being report in many parts of the state. Several
TROPICAL KINGBIRDS were reported during the week in Curry County.

On October 19 a MOUNTAIN CHICKADEE was at Lone Ranch State Park north of
Brookings. That day two CLAY-COLORED SPARROWS and two YELLOW-HEADED
BLACKBIRDS were near Cape Blanco. On October 18 a NORTHERN SHRIKE was on the
North Spit of Coos Bay. A SAGE SPARROW was seen October 15 at the South
Jetty of the Siuslaw River. On October 14 a POORWILL was seen near Florence.
Two PALM WARBLERS were at Tillamook Bay October 16. On October 19 a TROPICAL
KINGBIRD and a large number of RED-BREASTED NUTHATCHES were at Fort Stevens
State Park. Four LAPLAND LONGSPURS were seen October 17 at the South Jetty
of the Columbia River.

A NORTHERN SHRIKE was west of Banks October 14. A LEWIS?S WOODPECKER was
near Dayton October 18. A late female BULLOCK?S ORIOLE was seen October 19
near Silverton.

On October 16 five SURF SCOTERS were on Haystack Reservoir south of Madras.
That day an AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER and a STILT SANDPIPER were at Houston
Lake in Powell Butte. Also on October 16 a NORTHERN SHRIKE was north of
Prineville. On October 13 a SURF SCOTER was at Hatfield Lake near Bend. A
PALM WARBLER was seen October 16 at Malheur NWR Headquarters. A BLUE
GROSBEAK was photographed during the week at the P Ranch at Malheur NWR.
