I saw my first Western Scrub Jay on 20th near Lincoln School at least ten years ago. You can almost always find one near Madison School on Legion Way sometime during the day.

To my knowledge, Western Scrub Jays "colonized" Olympia probably 10 to 15 years ago. It is uncommon, but not too hard to find. It is in the Seattle area ,that considering all recent reports, that they are becoming more widespread.

At the time I didn?t think much of it, but since no-one?s mentioned Olympia that I?ve noticed I?ll throw in my 2c to the larger distribution patterns ? saw a Western Scrub Jay in west Oly about a month ago, perched on a fence of a yard adjacent to a main street (Division). No luck getting them added to my yard bird list yet :)
