Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday October 28. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls

On October 23 a BLUE JAY was in Klamath Falls; another was at Fields October
26. A RUSTY BLACKBIRD is now being seen along Greenhill Road north of
Eugene.

Heavy storms during the week brought many sea birds close to shore. The
largest numbers were seen off Boiler Bay. On October 24 over 8000 RED
PHALAROPES were there. On October 26 a LAYSAN ALBATROSS, 8500 FULMARS, a
COOK?S-TYPE PETREL, over 1400 LEACH?S STORM-PETRELS, and 250 KITTIWAKES
passed Boiler Bay

On October 24 a WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILL was at Charleston. A GREAT-TAILED
GRACKLE was in Coos Bay October 25. Among the many birds at Millicoma Marsh
near Coos Bay October 22 were 10 LINCOLN?S SPARROWS, two SWAMP SPARROWS, and
a WHITE-THROATED SPARROW. On October 22 a male CASSIN?S FINCH was near
Toledo. An early ROCK SANDPIPER is now being seen at Seaside Cove.

On October 22 a LEACH?S STORM-PETREL was found dead at Jewell in the Coast
Range. A WHITE-WINGED SCOTER was at the Fernhill Wetlands October 24. The
next day 19 SURF SCOTERS, six WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS, and two LONG-TAILED
DUCKS were at nearby Hagg Lake. On October 27 a WHITE-THROATED SPARROW was
at the EE Wilson WMA. On October 25 a RED PHALAROPE was on the Philomath
Sewage Ponds. Seven BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS and a PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVER were
seen October 24 along diamond Hill Road east of Harrisburg. On October 24 a
PALM WARBLER was at Alton-Baker Park in Eugene. A MOCKINGBIRD was seen
October 26 near Junction City.

A female SURF SCOTER was in The Dalles October 22. A SURF SCOTER and a
EURASIAN WIGEON were at Hatfield Lake October 24. A white GYRFALCON was
reported October 24 near Alfalfa; it could not be relocated.
