Hi Tweets,

Penny Koyama, Barbara, and I spent the morning at the Skagit Game Range on
Fir Island today. We had clear weather with temps in the 70s. We were able
to locate the *Black Phoebe* that had been reported there (on the right side
of the pond closest to the toilets in the large parking lot). We also found
a *Northern Waterthrush* on the trail that goes out from the other end of
the pond complex at a junction about 1/4 mile from the gate. This may have
been the bird that Brendan McGarry says he heard there a few days ago. All
together we found 46 species in about three hours.

The Nature Conservancy property on Boe Rd in Snohomish County was rather
quiet this afternoon. We found several *Yellow-headed Blackbirds* and spent
several minutes watching a handsome *Virginia Rail* that emerged from the
reeds and looked us over carefully. We quit after about 90 minutes there.

Our species count for the day totaled fifty-two: S=Skagit, N=Nature
