Hello Tweeters,
A quick addition to the posting of the Ruff. My dad and I went birding at
Ocean Shores/Grayland Thursday and Friday. At the first stop Thursday
morning, Damon Point, we quickly found the female King Eider and were
surprised to find an all white, Common Loon. Then onto the game range
where we found the juvenile Ruff. While looking at the Ruff, a flock of
Long Billed Dowitchers, with American and Pacific Golden Plovers trailing
them, flew in. This was quite exciting. Next morning, we rose early to
find the Snowy Plover at the beach along the Grayland Beach State Park.
Heading down to Midway Beach, we were surprised to find another juvenile
Ruff. Apparently from the postings we missed the Bar-tailed Godwit, but
it sounds like it was a second Ruff at Midway beach if the first Ruff was
seen all day at the game range. Satisfying trip, ending up with 23 shore
birds.

Good birding,
