Hi again -
Here are a few more sightings from Sunday and Monday --

The high points of the weekend were definitely the Sunday jaeger
chase that Bob Flores mentioned & the Canada Warbler at McNary on
Monday.

Overall, flycatcher migration was the main event at Washtucna, with
Pewees & Hammond's Flycatchers all over the place. Scattered among
them were most other migrant regulars. A handful of Townsend's
Solitaires were also around both Sunday & Monday, as well as several
Wilson's Warblers, a few Yellow & Orange-crowned, & the occasional
Yellow-rumped. Yesterday, a young Black-headed Grosbeak got our hopes
up for a little bit, but we couldn't morph it into a Rose-breasted.
Total number of birds around was pretty low overall -- still a bit
early for the big warbler flocks, I imagine. Monday, we did have 3
Coopers & 2 Sharpies also cruise through in quick succession.


Sunday, I also birded a bit in Columbia Co.

GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE - a county first for Columbia Co., at the
same spot where we had shorebirds last month - mp 6 just s. of
Starbuck.

At Little Goose Dam, across on the Whitman side, there was a single
Red-necked Grebe hanging out with 2 Western Grebes & a Horned Grebe.

Monday:
After McNary, I checked out the Walla Walla River delta briefly -
other than Killdeer, the only shorebird I had was a Semipalmated
Plover -- Terns were starting to show though, with a couple Forsters
& 4 or so Common Terns fluttering about.

While at Windust , where things were pretty quiet, Bob Derting had a
flock of 20+ terns pass by along the river. Between jaegers & terns,
it probably would be a good time to just hang out at the various dams
on the Snake & Columbia for a while in the coming days....
