hello, all:

in looking up winter wren on the internet, i saw an article saying the
winter wrens of the east coast and west coast are sufficiently different
genetically to merit the west coast bird being elevated from a subspecies to
the specific level and called the pacific wren. another piece said that,
indeed, had happened. if i read the aou checklist correctly

which says:


- Troglodytes pacificus Pacific Wren Troglodyte de Baird
- Troglodytes hiemalis Winter Wren Troglodyte des for?ts

the aou has done something.

does that mean we don't have winter wrens here, but rather pacific wrens and
i need to interlineate my sibley's? or does something else have to happen
first?
