Tweets,

Dave Swayne and I hit a few Kittitas spots on Sunday, managing to avoid
the rain. We visited the development road above Bullfrog Pond on the way
to Roslyn, the railroad ponds in Cle Elum, a few spots along the
Teanaway River, in particular near the junction between the middle and
north forks, Bettas Road and the Swauk Cemetery, and a long stretch of
Mill Creek Rd, just past the Liberty turnoff.

Bullfrog Rd
Clark's Nutcracker - at least 45 in a leap-frogging flock
Osprey - 2, fledged but still crying from the nest; one was carrying
around a small fish
Cassin's and Warbling Vireo - a mixed flock of half a dozen each
Western Wood-Pewee - 2, at least, chasing each other
Pacific-slope Flycatcher - 1
Lewis' (1), Downy (1) and Hairy (2) Woodpeckers, the latter two eating
off Mullein stalks

Railroad ponds - not a lot of activity, but
Hooded Merganser - 1
Pied-billed Grebe - 1
Forster's Tern - 1, actively fishing

Teanaway
American Kestrel - 20, at least, almost all in one large pasture, many
watching from the irrigation wheels
Wild Turkey - 22 in one flock, 4 in another trying to cross the road
Nuthatches, all 3 species in one mixed flock, many of each
Lewis's Woodpecker - 3
Red-naped Sapsucker - 1
Western Bluebird - 12, at least

Bettas Rd
Red-tailed Hawk - 4, at least, but almost the only place the whole day
where we saw them

Swauk Cemetery
Clark's Nutcracker - 2

Mill Creek Rd - most of the action was near the high point of the road;
woodpecker bonanza
Williamson's Sapsucker - 1, a very bright male
Red-naped Sapsucker - 1
Downy Woodpecker - 1
Hairy Woodpecker - 6, probably many more; we lost count
Black-backed Woodpecker - 1, a nice male giving us great views
Northern Flicker - 1 or 2
Pileated Woodpecker - 1
Northern Pygmy-Owl - 1, came in to our calls, then periodically
commenced calling again, unsolicited
Flammulated Owl - 1, Dave flushed him as we were bushwhacking in search
of the woodpeckers; it perched in good view, for Dave, but spooked
before I got to see it (still Flam-less)
Sharp-shinned Hawk - 1
Clark's Nutcracker - 6
Gray Jay - 4
Townsend's Solitaire - 1, flew in to a low branch as if to roost for the
night, looking very plump
Varied Thrush - 1
Hermit Thrush - 1
House Wren - 1
MacGillivray's Warbler - 2
Fox Sparrow - 1
Ruffed Grouse - 3; first 2, and then another a few hundred feet away,
dashed out of the way of the car as we went downhill late in the day
