Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday September 9. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls

On September 5 a YELLOW-THROATED VIREO was photographed at the Goose Lake
State Recreation Area south of Lakeview. A LEAST FLYCATCHER was seen
September 3 at Tethrow Crossing near Redmond.

Heavy fall migrations continue with sparrows, BLACK-THROATED GRAY WARBLERS,
VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOWS and PIPITS the most conspicuous. On September 2 a
VESPER SPARROW was in a SAVANNAH SPARROW flock at the Fernhill Wetlands in
Forest Grove.

On September 1 a RUFF was at Bandon. Two RUFFS and a juvenile FORSTER?S TERN
were at Yaquina Bay September 3. Eight BLACK SWIFTS were over South Beach
September 6. On September 4 three LAPLAND LONGSPURS were at the South Jetty
of the Columbia River.

On September 2, 122 GREAT EGRETS were at Smith/Bybee Lakes in North
Portland. A SANDERLING was seen September 5 at Broughton Beach near the
Portland Airport. On September 2 a WILSON?S PHALAROPE was at the Fernhill
Wetlands. Three COMMON TERNS were there September 6. On September 2 an early
ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK was seen passing southward over the west slope of Mt.
Hood. Two LONG-BILL CURLEWS were seen September 4 along Diamond Hill Road
south of Brownsville. On September 4 about 12,000 VAUX?S SWIFTS were at
Agate Hall in Eugene. Up to 19 COMMON TERNS were seen during the week at
Fern Ridge Reservoir. An adult PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVER was there September 2,
and three WHIMBREL were there September 4.

On September 8 a probable PARASITIC JAEGER was at the Redmond Sewage Ponds.
A female COSTA?S HUMMINGBIRD was at a Bend feeder September 5.
