Subject: [Tweeters] modestly priced dSLR outfit - Pentax K-x

Just wanted to make quick mention of the Pentax K-x dSLR which has gotten
good reviews for an entry-level dSLR. It will get you in the door for
cheaper than a comparable Canon or Nikon outfit. The Pentax kit (DA-L) 300
zoom gets good reviews and is a good deal but I would consider the non-kit
(DA) 300 lens that has the "quick-shift" option that allows manual focus
refinement while in auto-focus mode (handy for nature photography). It's a
bit short by bird photography standards but it is quite compact and portable
(as is the K-x body). Pentax does not have a huge lineup of long lenses but
Sigma makes both 400 and 500 mm zoom lenses for Pentax mounts. This outfit
fit my budget and has added a new dimension to my outings. The K-x w/ 2 kit
lenses, 18-55 and 55-300 is around $700 at Amazon, B&H, etc.

thanks,
Charles.
