Hello, tweets.

I ran over to Magnuson Park when the sun came out this afternoon (11 Sep 2010) to see what dragonflies were flying around, as I'm doing sort of a survey there. 10 species flying, some of them in good numbers.

But this is a birding listserve, so.....

I ran into Bob Vandenbosch, and we saw, among other things, two Northern Pintails, an immature male Cooper's Hawk, a female American Kestrel, a juvenile Greater Yellowlegs, a juvenile Pectoral Sandpiper, and a Vesper Sparrow.

I can't make it sound as good as Connie does for Montlake Fill, but it wasn't bad birding (and odonating). I constantly grouse (just to keep the language avian rather than canine) about how the world is steadily getting worse for nature and naturalists, but the ponds at Magnuson are a fine exception to that trend.
