Tweeters,

It was good weather in Monroe last night for a large appreciative
crown who had come to see the swifts do their fly in the chimney
thing. Several thousand of the little birds showed up on time.
Unfortunately, so did a large Cooper's Hawk that did a bed time south
to north fly through. The swifts immediately went into their high
elevation "can't get me up here" mode. That could set the stage for
crowd pleasing mass dives into the chimney, or the birds might go some
place else.

Susie Schaefer sprinted 12 blocks east to arrive just in time to
document 6153 VASW enter the chimney at the Monroe School District
Admin. Building.

I hope the few hundred swifts that made their dash for the safety of
the Wagner bricks and the packed flock acrobatics was a good enough
show for those who made the trip.

You should have been there Tuesday.
