Hi everyone

We went for a casual walk up at Rattlesnake Lake this afternoon.? As always happens I didn't take a camera and should have.? At the watershed visitor center a merlin was sitting very close in a fir tree.? There was 3 or 4 SHOREBIRDS on the west side of the lake.? They were located between the boat launch and where the gravel trail from the visitor center meets the main paved trail.? They were causally looking for goodies in the gravel.? there was also a western grebe out on the lake.? I'm guessing that the shorebirds may have been young spotted sandpipers but don't quote me.? We didn't have a spotting scope so I can only guess.?

One other note - we had really bad luck yesterday at Ocean Shores - so my husband and I decided to try the Brady Loop Rd to see if anything was out that way yet.? We saw one harrier and one western scrub jay.? I don't see a lot of posts for the jay so I thought I would pass it along.

Enjoy your day
