Subject: [Tweeters] Whimbrel and Pectoral Sandpiper on Vashon Island

This morning leading a tour Randy Robinson and Jane Hadley, we produced some good shorebirding on Vashon. At Ellisport, Randy found a Pectoral Sandpiper with some Leasts and Westerns. A Pectoral had been seen nearby on Saturday at KVI Beach by the Vashon Audubon monthly fieldtrip. At KVI Beach were more Leasts and Westerns and a possible Baird's but we didn't get a good enough look.

At Portage, the first Vashon Eared Grebe of the season was present.

At Pt. Robinson, Jane found the Whimbrel right at the point by the lighthouse. It was accompanied by Sanderling and Semipalmated Plover. Ricki Carlson had reported a Whimbrel at KVI Beach a week or so back.

Other recent sightings include a Black and White Warbler mixed in with a Ruby-crowned Kinglet and warbler flock seen by Rick Sanders.
