Tuesday, September 14 there were 5 COMMON TERNS in one flock at Vancouver
Lake State Park -- 4 juveniles and 1 adult. They flew in and landed on the
(plastic?) log booms at 11:30 am, and left right around noon. When I first
arrived at 11 am, I saw at least 3 terns perched on the booms from the
parking lot, but they were gone by the time I made it to the beach, so
perhaps they are alternating between hunting over the lake and resting on
the booms. Vancouver Lake had 6 GREAT EGRETS on the southeast edge.

Rufners Pond had 18 GREAT EGRETS, many GREATER YELLOWLEGS, one LESSER
YELLOWLEGS, and one very brightly colored juvenile PECTORAL SANDPIPER.
