Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday September 16. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls

Up to two NORTHERN PARULAS were seen during the week at the Pittock Mansion
in Portland?s West Hills. An immature BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER and a male
BLUE-WINGED WARBLER were seen September 15 at Fields.

Heavy migrations during the week included sparrows, hawks, warblers, TURKEY
VULTURES and BARN SWALLOWS. SANDHILL CRANES are now arriving on Sauvie
Island.

The September 11 offshore boat trip to Perpetua Bank recorded 2300
PINK-FOOTED SHEARWATERS, 225 BULLER?S SHEARWATERS a FLESH-FOOTED SHEARWATER,
250 SABINE?S GULLS, and 12 SKUAS.

On September 11 a BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER was on the North Spit of Coos Bay.
The next day a BUFF-BREASTED was at the South Jetty of the Siuslaw River. A
GOSHAWK was seen September 10 along the nature trail at the Hatfield Science
Center on Yaquina Bay.

Up to four COMMON TERNS were seen during the week at Vancouver Lake. Two
GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROWS were at a Warren feeder September 14. An adult
SABINE?S GULL was on Sauvie Island September 9. A FRANKLIN?S GULL was there
the next day. On September 9 a BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER was at Ankeny NWR.
Five SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS were at Fern Ridge Reservoir September 12.

On September 12 a SABINE?S GULL was at the mouth of Hood River. The next day
one was at Haystack Reservoir near Madras. On September 11 about 20 COMMON
TERNS were at Tumalo Reservoir near Bend. Among a swarm of migrants at the
Narrows at Malheur NWR September 11 were a STILT SANDPIPER and an adult
HERRING GULL. On September 13 about 100 BLACK ROSY-FINCHES were at the East
Rim of Steens Mountain.
