Some time last month, a new Google group called Portland Area Birds http://groups.google.com/group/portland-area-birds came to life. It is a relatively activive group with member numbers building. See Greg Gillson's original post to OBOL below, I don't think he ever forwarded this post to Tweeters. This is significant for the Tweeters community in SW Washington state since this new group also includes sites in the Vancouver area (including Ridgefield NWR), so it probably wouldn't hurt to subscribe if you are interested in this area.

=========================================

The Portland Area Birds email list is a local birding list especially for
bird watchers in the Portland, Oregon area. Birders are encouraged to let
others know what birds they are seeing in Clackamas, Columbia, Multnomah,
and Washington counties of NW Oregon, and the Vancouver, Washington area.

This list is primarily for birds of local, but not statewide, interest. It
will also be a place to announce local field trips, etc. allowing OBOL to
keep its statewide perspective.

The Google groups web page provides an easy-to-use interface allowing
posting, changing subscription options, viewing archives, a page of links
for Portland birders, and an area to upload photos.
