Hi Tweets,

I was at the Wylie Slough Game Range (Fir Island, Skagit County)
early this morning (9-19-10) awaiting exposure of enough mud to see
if the Sharp-tailed Sandpiper would appear. It did not. Lots of
Lesser Yellowlegs. Dowitchers, and Least Sandpipers. At about 8:45
a.m., I was watching the back pond where the wooden hunting blind is
and a WILSON's PHALAROPE flew in from the north, swam around in
circles for a minute or two and then flew off to the south. I ran
into Scott Atkinson and birded with him for a bit. We watched a
number of VAUX's SWIFTS heading south, had ORANGE-CROWNED, YELLOW-
RUMPED, and COMMON YELLOWTHROAT warblers. The BLACK PHOEBE was in
the slough near the headquarters parking lot. A PEREGRINE FALCON
flew low overhead as we were standing near the headquarters parking
lot and so did two TURKEY VULTURES. I had to get back to town.
Scott was heading for the migrant trap around the boat launch when I
left. Maybe he'll have something interesting to report this afternoon.
