Tweeters,

Come watch migrating raptors follow the ridgelines and thermal masses during
their fall migration over the heart of the North Cascades Mountains. This
is a follow-up field trip to the Saturday Festival at Chelan Ridge where you
can practice your raptor identification and enjoy the fall colors with
raptors flying overhead..

Meet for the "Peregrine Pancake Breakfast" at North Cascades Basecamp Lodge
just west of Mazama Sunday September 26 at 8 am. $5.00 for adults, $2.50
kids. Lodge guests free!

A great event in the morning will be live raptors at the Basecamp presented
by the WSU Raptor Club. They will be answering questions and showing their
birds from 8:00 until 9:30 am.

I will give a short presentation on raptors and their migration from 8:45 -
9:15 am.

About 9:30 am we will head up to Harts Pass. We will carpool from North
Cascades Basecamp in Mazama to Harts

(13 miles) and plan to return around 3:00 pm. This event is FREE. Sturdy,
high-clearance 2-or 4-wheel drive is

recommended as a short portion of the road to the pass is a tad bit rough,
though the road is in better shape now than in

some years I recall.

Bring lunch, drinks, and clothing for fall weather as it could be cool, wet
and windy.

For information on North Cascades Basecamp, go to
http://www.northcascadesbasecamp.com/. For this event click on Ecology
Center, then on Ecology programs. From this link you can also learn about
the Chelan Ridge Hawk Festival September 25. Keep in mind, the events on
Saturday require advance signup as it as proven very popular!

A Northern Hawk Owl has been sighted in the Harts Pass area several times in
recent weeks. Of course, we'll be on the lookout for this elusive bird!

We hope to see some of you folks at North Cascades Basecamp Sunday morning!
