I have had a "barking" yard bird off and on for a couple of years. I think
it one of the Steller's Jays.

Subject: [Tweeters] "Barking" bird

Today when I walked out to my blackberry patch, a bird was there who
tried to warm me off with a call that sounded like a little, hoarse
dog's bark. This is a call I have not heard previously, and I would
not have suspected it of being a bird except that I heard it again as it
flew out of the VERY THICK and tall patch. When I came back to the
house, I heard the call again from the trees nearby, but I could not see
it.

Any suggestions what this might have been?
