Subject: [Tweeters] Dumas Bay Today

In addition to the possible Least Flycatcher, birding at Dumas Bay was a lot
better than it has been lately. It must be fall!

There were several MEW - and GLAUCOUS-WINGED GULLS, also a single
BONAPARTE'S GULL and a number of DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANTS on the beach and
in the water. AMERICAN WIGEON numbers are up to about a hundred now. A
scruffy looking adult BALD EAGLE, apparently molting and missing several
wing feathers, did a fly over and put all birds up in the air. A RED-TAILED
HAWK was harassed by several crows, small enough to be candidates for
Northwestern Crow status. The resident pair of BELTED KINGFISHERS was busy
diving for fish. One of the three GREAT BLUE HERONS caught a nice flounder,
but decided to leave before the rest of them tried to share its afternoon
snack. I had hoped to be able to watch that flounder s;iding down the long
neck. This I have seen previously and it is quite a sight!

Also present out on the sound, were three COMMON LOONS
