Tweeters,
Wintering birds on and around saltwater are picking up around West Seattle.
Within the last week or two, I've noted arrivals of:
Western Grebes
Red-necked Grebes
Harlequin Ducks
Surf Scoters
Red-breasted Mergansers
Sanderlings (the customary flock just south of the Alki Lighthouse)
Surfbirds (about 10, Duwamish Head)
Black Turnstones (about 35, also at Duwamish Head)
Gulls passing through have included:
Ring-billed
Mew
California
Just when I think the Caspian Terns are gone for the year, I hear or see
another one, as this morning. A few Common Terns passed through around the
12th and 13th, though none since.
Hope you all enjoy great fall birding.
