What an odd morning in Seattle - it was darn near 70 outside, almost muggy,
and as I stood on my deck drinking coffee, I suddenly heard a Varied Thrush
singing from my thicket of rhododendrons. It sang off and on for about five
minutes before winging away eastward. I typically see VATH in my yard in the
dead of winter; I wonder what prompted it to wander in on a muggy September
day?
