hello everyone,

i wrote a very cool story about a hot-off-the-presses paper about a
fossil virus that is found in the chromosomes of zebra finches and
several other closely-related finches (which also happen to be popular
pet birds). this paper is getting attention because it suggests there
might be more than one way for scientists to predict pandemic disease
that originate or be carried by birds. the link:

and this is a really cool mystery bird (which some of you have seen
