OK, I think the count of red faces at Alki Point has been reduced from two
birds to one human.

Some calm review by Evan Houston, Ryan Merrill, and Michael Willison all
point to Pelagic Cormorant. The bird in question got credit for a seemingly
thicker neck and bill and more yellow in the bill than you might expect in a
Pelagic Cormorant, but it was unanimous that the red on the (bird's) face
didn't cover high enough.

Once again, Tweeters shows its value. Thanks, everyone.

As a consolation report, yesterday we watched an immature Bald Eagle eat a
Brant. An adult eagle later showed up to supervise and assist with the
eating. And, oddly enough, this morning a Brant did a most unusual thing,
separating from the flock and coming ashore. It sat for a long time, alone,
on the spot that yesterday's meal occurred, leaving when some folks walking
on the beach got too close.

Good birding to you all.
