Hi Tweets,

Yesterday (4/2) around 3:30pm Tracey Scalici, and Eric and Laura Craig, and I had a CASPIAN TERN fly past us at Luhr Beach while conducting our count in support of the Puget Sound Seabird Survey. It came east to west across the Nisqually delta and then passed us headed up the Reach to the northwest. Seems pretty early for them that far into the Sound to me.

Other cool stuff included about 100 BRANT on the Nisqually delta, and a flock of several hundred MEW GULLS (mostly Mews at least, that I could tell) off the south tip of Anderson Island.

We also visited the GREAT HORNED OWLS at Nisqually after our survey.

Many thanks to the several gentlemen that helped us find the nest tree which in turn allowed me to get my scope set up and help several groups of children and other passersby to enjoy the birds. A valuable experience for all.

Good Birding to All,
Matt
