Hi Tweets:

I was hoping the FOY Osprey would be in Ocean Shores, but it was the one in
Hoquiam that showed up first, on Friday 4/1. I just hope the sewer pond
project isn't going to interfere with nesting. The dirt from the
construction of the 520 pontoon project will be used to fill in about half
of the sewer pond, and there are piles of rocks now standing near the
existing structures inside the fenced area across the road from the pond.
The gate off Paulson Rd was standing open and the road into the structures
now appears well-used so I anticipate a lot of noise and disturbance ahead,
just as the Osprey begin nest repairs.

The City of Hoquiam has friends who erected a perfectly wonderful pole with
a platform inside the sewage pond property, and across from the GHNWR
office, but the birds deemed it too close to the trees at the west end of
that property...the trees where the Red-tailed Hawks perch....at least that
is what I surmise.

We shall see how tolerant these birds are.
